You've made a couple of good points, Doug. The claims are made to
"a nervous population", that is, to their own people, internal
consumption. Unfortunately, modern lines of communication echo the silly
claims beyond the intended audience. If the same claims are ever made to
an external audience, like the UN ... THEN we're in for a rough ride :)
