You just should not have to do that if the camera were working properly. If you are doing this because of a problem then there is a defect in the firmware or hardware, and you should address this to the camera manufacturer. That is a defect in material and/or workmanship, and should be covered under warranty (even though they may try to claim otherwise). Reading/writing FLASH subsystems is simply not difficult engineering, and you should expect this to work flawlessly, and there is no excuse for it to not do so.
