Subject: RE: [Leica] WAS Shell; NOW LUG generosity

BTW, in a previous post, I was referring to another
case of generosity: Brian Reid mentioned that someday
he'd like to try an M6 camera, and Jim Brick organized
a collection of funds to send Brian a new one.

And then of course, there was the LUG "scholarship" fund,
started by Kyle, where Kyle and Tina sold prints to
partially (how partially, I don't know) send Scott Squire
http://www.journalism.berkeley.edu/students/squire.html
to spend time in the sewers of Bucharest to document the
lives of gypsy street children http://www.scottsquire.net/skd/index.html

Steve can, of course, speak to this. My recollection is that it was a
gift (or perhaps I merely choose to remember it this way). A search of
the LUG archives would reveal all (if one could figure out an
appropriate search string), but why spoil a pleasant memory by
confronting it with a dispiriting fact? I do this for a living in my
day job--in my spare time I prefer to inhabit the fantasy world that is
the LUG, where kindness, humanity, politesse, and good manners
invariably prevail.

Yes, but did he get paid for the LTM gear?
