I am trying to set up to be able to use the Singh Ray ND grads on my
Vario-Elmar 35-70R, which uses 60mm filters. The first problem is that
Cokin doesn't make a 60mm adapter ring for the P holder. I suppose I could
use a 60-62mm step-up ring to solve that one. But the bigger problem is
that the front element recesses inside of the outer barrel just past 40mm,
so you can't zoom to a focal length much past 40mm with the Cokin 62mm
adapter+step-up ring attached.

Is there such a thing as an adapter ring that would allow the front element
to recess properly? Although I guess that such a ring would cause
vignetting at shorter focal lengths.

The last, and most minor issue, is that the front element rotates!

Decent lens, but seems like it's going to be a hassle to use with the ND
grads, in any case.
