For sale: black Leica M5 (SN 1353621). Three lug, excellent condition,
mechanically sound. Slight edge wear, small piece of vulcanite missing from
bottom right side (about 8mm x 6mm). M6-style rubber eyepiece installed,
but the original metal one is included as well. Also includes original
leather case and hand-strap. Viewfinder/rangefinder calibrated, clear, and
spot-on. Included Chris MR-9 battery adapter allows use of silver oxide
batteries. Number engraved on bottom plate. Buyer pays shipping/insurance.
Please e-mail for pictures. I'm willing to allow a reasonable period of
time for the buyer to run a few rolls of film to check things out, with
refund (less shipping) if not satisified. Asking $1200 or best offer. As
many of you know, the M5 is a great user camera, ergonomically superior to
the standard M-series Leica body in many ways. It remains the ONLY M-body
with shutter speed readout in the viewfinder when used in manual mode, and
the ONLY M-body with analog meter readout, making it easy to judge the
amount of over/under-exposure at a glace. This particular M5 is a great M5
to *use*. I have been quite happy with it. The only reason for the sale is
that I wear glasses and find the 0.58 finder better to use with my standard
35mm lens. If I could install the 0.58 finder in the M5, that would be my
ideal option, but I understand that this is not possible without losing the
meter and shutter speed readout in the viewfinder. Please e-mail me at
dkreithen *at* hotmail *dot* com with questions.
