Sherry Krauter confirmed this to me a couple of days ago. It appears that
Solms adopted this policy over a year ago but that Leica/USA Northvale
continued to sell parts to independent Leica service people.

It is my understanding that lawyers are presently determining if this action
violates U.S.anti-trust law. This is not an area of my law practice or any
expertise, but my quick reaction is that it may not be a violation.

Keep tuned.

> As of just a few days ago, Leica USA has stopped selling camera and
binocular repair parts to individuals. I've e-mailed DAG about this who has
confirmed the news. At this point it's uncertain how this will all work
out; he thinks Leica's action is illegal and he is getting legal advice on
the matter. At this time Don has thousands of Leica repair parts on hand so
at least in the short term his business isn't hurting.
