Hi Doug:

I'm not at all certain that you could not now get the casting yourself. What
Roger said to me was that Northvale was returning to its former policy
(whatever that was) provided only that they might limit the number of
individual parts items per [time period] [month?] so prevent trans-shipment
outside the United States. If Leica USA formerly sold parts to individual
Leica owners, I would interpret what Roger said to me to mean that you could
still order the part.

correctly, folks like Sherry, DAG and John Van Stelton will be able to get
the parts needed - but not untrained people like myself.  If this policy had
been in effect a few years ago the R4sP which is now my daughter's would
have been trashed instead of repaired 'cuz Leica USA and my local
Leica-trained repair technican refused to replace the broken main casting.
I bought the main casting ($100) and made the repair myself.
