I did some experimenting with shades I had in my junk bin. A push-on 
42mm Russian shade fitted on the lens, but it looks like it'll cause 
some vignetting.

On the recommendation of a list-god, I took a look at my series VI 
hoods. A Kenko slotted hood that I bought from another list-god 
pushed on with just a bit of slippage. A little bit of double-sided 
tape and the hood is on semi-permanently and except for being black 
when the lens is silver, looks original. I'll try to get a photo of 
how it looks online.
