Hi Felix,
Sorry Felix I have to disagree with you completely in my case.

Simply because I was well into M Leica gear before I bought the Noctilux and
had the 1.4 Summilux 50mm which I used extensively. But when the 50 f 1.0
Noctilux was available my immediate re-action was ... "It's faster & will
allow me shoot in even less light situations." It was a new tool, not an
emotional toy. And in over 30 plus years I've carried it about the world on
assignments it never entered my mind to sell it.

And the day, if it ever happens, I go to the big darkroom in the sky, the
Noctilux and whatever body it's attached to at the time ..... goes with me!
Besides the chances are I'm going to the darkness of hell and I'm going to
need all the help I can with a fast lens! ;-)

I buy Leica glass in the following order.. providing it will assist me in
doing my assignments or other photo / book projects.. The fastest always,
first choice! In other words, widest aperture always number one. The focal
length for it's coverage, as super wides and or tele length. If it isn't
fast it doesn't make it.

My photo life has always been to work by the light I see and am motivated by
the lighting on the subject... whatever that might be. I abhor shooting with
the damn crutch of a twinkie-light!

If you can see it, you can with the fast lenses and the quality of high
speed films of today shoot almost 99.9% of your pictures by available
existing light, providing you understand light and know how to use it to
your advantage. Twinkie lights be-damned! ;-)
