Well, it's hard to blame the TV people when the competent people bury
their heads in the sand and don't bother to even try to educate them.
What are they supposed to do, no story at all? How is that serving the
public. The biggest problem is TV stations make obscene amounts of
money, but very little is used to hire competent staff. Many of them at
smaller stations are newbies. If people took the time to talk with
them, and educate them, over time their reports would get better. A
friendly critique after a story might help too if offered in a friendly
way, rather than accusing them of being the devil incarnate and
purposely distorting stories.
