Phong und andere LUGers

Someone on the LUG claims that he gets his M7 to synchronize
at much higher speeds with a Metz flash unit.

HTF does he do that?  Does the Metz flash like the old FP
bulbs?  A loooong flash for the duration of the shutter slit's
travel across the 36 mm of the film's length?
