I didn't go to Paris to drink beer- it was to attend a wedding and vacation.
In fact I drank more French wine- which was ok- but not as good as Calif
wine, and Scotch than beer. During our stay in Cognac- I asked the inn
keeper which cognac he drank- and he said the small private labels- not the
big commercial brands. With his comments in mind, I purchased a bottle of
Cognac Jacques Denis Extra Grande Champagne which is 25 years old for 60
Euros from a veritable cognac supermarket in downtown Cognac called " La
Cognatheque". I look forward to sampling it. We also had a very fine
comprehensive tour at Martell, established in 1715. It looked like they know
what they are doing. A comment made was that the French people only drink 5%
of the cognac production. I was surprised by that low number.
