I disagree that these need cropping because they are 'overly active.' It strikes me that part of what Brian is showing is the mass of humanity here; the fact that the actions in the foreground are being repeated ad infinitum in the background - and that's powerful. I think that too often there's a feeling that all the "extraneous" material should be cropped, when it isn't extraneous at all, but rather helps tell the story. That said, I would like to see more close-ups, probably tighter with a wide-angle rather than telephoto closer. And, as I asked in a facetious manner before, where are the shots of self-flagellation, etc., that would make these that much more powerful? B. Many of the images suffer from being overly active without thoughtful composition: there are frame after frame of withering bodies with lots of extraneous background. The use of captions would not have helped the composition, but at lease would have told us what we are viewing.
