Hi, Phong -

Yes, that's the only way to edit them and file them by subject.  They are 
much easier to scan in slide mounts, too.  I use a Gepe hand mounter.  It 
takes about 4 seconds from start to finish to mount one negative.  I just 
have to be careful to keep my fingers out of the way when I slam the 
mounter down  ;-)
