Well, the way the lens is laid out, light rays could very well be 
pretty close to parallel before they go through the last element. Which 
would be consistent with their argument. The focal length has 
everything to do with is. Leica's lenses are too high a number to make 
the bend in that short a distance. Much shorter focal lengths, no 
problem (though distortion would be in question I suppose).
