If you ever want to use a motor, go ahead and look for an R8 on the cheap: if you don't mind wear they can be had near $900 in NYC. The focusing screen of an SL isn't really needed for the 180. The 180 Summicron pops into and out of focus just like a Noctilux with even less DOF. On the other hand, if you already own an SL then convert the lens to a three cam, you will still be able to use it on future bodies. I guess it really depends on just how much the seller wants to sell it. I have seen them come up very infrequently under $3000 but more often in the $3500-$4000 range. If it's R-cam, maybe. If it's 3-cam, yes. You should be able to have a ROM or R-cam lens converted to SL, and it will still be fully usable on any R body. > > > Doug Herr > Birdman of Sacramento > http://www.wildlightphoto.com > -- > To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html > - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
