The archival life of professional motion picture negative films is said 
to be in the 100s of years when stored properly.  This usually means 40F 
and low to moderate humidity.  Still film should last as long under 
similar conditions.  This assumes proper processing, which of course one 
can never assume.  I have had film from some labs that has faded in an 
unusually short period of time while others hold up fine.
