Well, the broker of record is clear. If they were posting on behalf of another person, then they'll never do that again. As an agent of a seller they are liable. If this is the case then their reputation shouldn't be tarnished too much, they should make it clear, this was the case, and help Mark with negotiations with the actual seller, provided the actual seller wasn't a con who just screwed two people. Get enough middle men involved in your scam, you'll never get nailed. Just ask any CFO.

There is another issue that as far as I can see has not been mentioned.
Most of the people following this thread have undoubtedly formed an opinion
in their mind as to who the seller is (I know that I have), and it may be
that they are incorrect. Innocent people may by implication be suffering
as a result of this.
