Problem is, for example my son (a Nikon AF man):  he pulls his camera out of 
the bag maybe once in a month-6 wks to make some spontaneous shots.   For him 
with the Fuji he grabs some AA's from a huge bulk-pack from Costco he uses for 
his Walkman, Gameboy etc etc, and he's good to go.  With the dedicated 
battery packs he'd need to charge them up first.  It's the same thing that's a major 
drawback with the R8 motor drive.  Darn thing should've had an optional AA 
tray like the Nikon and Canon drive grips...and *those* drives are twice as fast 
so it's not like the R8 drive couldn't run on as few as 4 AA's.
