I have often walked around in New Orleans, and made trips to  Frankfurt, Hong 
Kong, and San Francisco, and I've  carried my Leica quite  openly.  I take 
reasonable precautions as to where I go and what time of  day, but have never 
felt threatened by thieves.  So far I have also not had  to worry too much about 
sneak thieves and stuff in Natchitoches.
