It suggests two things to me: One, the new $2.5K 50 does not hold up well when compared to the 50 1.4; two, the 35 1.4, which for many of us can serve very well as a "normal" lens, is still far and a way the best fast Leica lens. Also keep in mind his saying that there are 2 stops of vignetting at f 1.4, as well as what he I believe termed "visible" distortion.
