Erwin does not have to compare the new lens to anything.  Look at the
MTF chart: wide open the lens transmits 40% at 40 lines out to the
corners.  That is far better than the 35 Summilux ASPH which is down to
20% in the corners wide open.  By the time the lens is at 5.6 it is
running over 90% to the corners.

By the numbers this will be a stupendous lens.  One poster has it
correct, it will be all about the ability to manufacture consistently.
If sample variation is small then the 35, 50, 90, 135 combination
available from Leica will be just about enough to keep many in film.
