Who ever said that the noct had poor performance?
I've seen super results from many on this list.
I've read reports which rate it along side summicron from f:2-16.
Folks have raved about flair resistance.
The only downside crits I've seen relate to softness, dof and bokeh at 
f:1-1.4. The fact anyone would find this surprising has always left me 
chuckling. At f:1 the lens functions at the very cutting edge of 
photo-optical limits. At f:1.8-16 the lens makes beautifully sharp 
photographs. Not a noct apologist - just another noct lover.
