That's the problem with monitors. I recently installed a dual monitor
set-up. One is LCD, the other CRT. Both Samsung (997DF and 172T). I
have tried to calibrate them both (you can only run one profile at a
time under Windows XP, but you can derive the calibration from
either.)

My flat panel produces great blacks and whites, with snappy contrast.
The CRT produces more washed out images -- but with better tonal
separation in the deep blacks and bright whites. Either looks fine
when not directly compared to the other.

Overall, I prefer the LCD, despite the lack of separation of extreme
tones. When editing, I sometimes drag an image from one to the other
to see the difference.

This image looks great on my LCD, and a tad flat on the CRT.
