And the camera base looks to me like it is more Leica-like than
hinged-back-like. That suggests to me that it is designed to last a
lifetime.

Further to the discussion of the new Zeiss camera, it is starting to
look
very much like an M body with a Zeiss badge. One photo, in particular,
shows strap lugs that look very much like those of an M. See

I still don't understand why Zeiss did not buy Leica out a few years
ago.
It would have been the best fit for both.
