Hello Graham,
I thought this barbaric habit of scaring Rooks and Crows off had died 
out in the early sixties, along
with impaling moles on barbed wire fences.

BTW We used to eat them after the Rook shoot in Yorkshire - Rook pie was 
even better than Pigeon.Very tasty indeed.
