Excellent idea, I'm sure CZ has got a corner of their factory free. :-)

CZ is financially, and in their diversity, more than big enough to
swallow Leica without a hiccup.

Even "Zeiss-Ost" Jena is THE success story of the ex-eastern bloc,
Lothar Sp?th "Cleverle" managed to make a going and
profitable concern out of the company - now Jenoptik. An ex-politician,
former prime minister of the state
of Baden-W?rttemberg and a brilliant manager, just the kind of man Leica
needs. Pity he retired recently.
He also managed it without any financial support from Armani, Lagerfeld,
Joop, Versace and co.

It will be a sad day when Leica is only spoken of in the same breath,
and by the same people, as other producers of desirable but generally
unnecessary products targeted at a market segment where money was always
more important than
sense.

Anyway, we shall soon see if new brooms sweep clean in Solms, Herr Cohn
has gone back to high quality office furniture
management. Maybe we'll soon be seeing APO-desks and "a la carte" chairs
before they too gradually disappear from the
market.

Douglas

BTW I thought Hermes was those nasty little blisters you get on your
lips. ;-)
