Has the U.S. ever done anything morally, legally, or ethically wrong?

aware that when the US fought WW1, we did so without manufacturing a 
single artillery tube? Our artillery and machineguns were manufactured 
by the French & British. Only late in the war did we begin supplying our

own machineguns to replace the ones supplied by the Allies.
