At the end of the 15th century the village of Fawsley was abandoned on the orders of the Knightley family who resided in Fawsley Hall. The land was requisitioned for sheep grazing which was considered much more profitable than labour intensive arable farming. In the 18th century the deserted village was drowned when Capability Brown landscaped the grounds of Fawsley Hall and the village is under the lake in the shot. The church, on higher ground, escaped. The church is very small with a rather drab exterior but inside it is real treasure. I have accumulated a lot of shots of the interior with the intention of doing a piece on it but, as ever, apathy is at fever pitch. Thanks for looking. --gb
