The M4-P occupies a position in smoothness and reliability midway between
the M4 and M4-2.  If you do not need a self timer and might want to use a
rapidwinder, the M4-P is for you.

I have used several M4-Ps and M4s over the years and find the M4-P, when
properly adjusted, to be fine camera but, if you can afford one, there is
nothing quite like a well tuned M4 unless it is a midrange DS M3 with
geometric shutter (personal prejudice).

You should be able to find a good M4-P for 20-30% less money than a similar
M4.
