How about taking the camera to a decent auto body shop?  If you can remove
all the innards before hand, it should be easy to get just about any finish
you want baked onto the body.

A recent episode of "American Chopper" (shown in North America) shows them
building a bike with copper plated parts (based on the Statue of Liberty).
 Imagine a Leica M copper plated with a protective clear coat.  Now that
would be a beautiful camera!
