I have a Rolex GMT Master that i got before I went into the Navy in
1970. I have worn it virtually continuously since then. It has even
gone 20,000 leagues under the sea - or darn close to it. I'm on the
2nd stainless steel band but I'm keeping two pieces of lockwire - one
from my old boat and one from my son's new one which will take it's
place late this year.

I used to have it cleaned regularly but then a Rolex specialist I met
said "if it's keeping good time, consistent time, don't mess with it."
So I haven't. I'll probably have to send it in because the crystal is
getting really scratched and it's time-keeping is starting to change.

I know that for me there is "analog time" and "digital time". If I
look at my watch and have a time I need to meet I have a much more
accurate idea of the meaning of the time interval than if I look at a
digital timepiece. No idea why.
