First copies of F5 shut down energy very soon and had to be serviced as
a set of batteries last only five or six films. After serviced no more
problem and the point of shut down was much small. Anyway this happens
to common AA batteries. Using MN30 NimH battery and his corresponding
charger allowed firing a true lot of films. Just *touch* an F5 and
you'll see the difference. The F100 is a very good camera than can
confidently used by a pro but IMHO is, by no means, a better camera.
The Nikon F are not pieces of craftsmanship as Leica are but are built
for last. My Nikon F from 1969 works flawlessly and has never been
serviced. It's true I'm not a pro and I take enormous care of my
cameras. Nikkor optics are among the best but they are not gone so far
in the search of perfection as Leica or Carl Zeiss but stopped when they
find out a good performances/price balance.

Anyway I switched to Canon when I saw that Nikon had not the capability
of getting a full frame digital SLR and so I started buying Canon lenses
that are not worse then Nikkor and get similar level of quality/price.
But when I wish an outstanding picture I'll always use any of my
Summicrons. Not always I want a *perfect* image but an image that
*could* be taken in this moment and therefore I need a zoom or an
extreme wide or...something that Leica cannot produce as they are not
satisfied with the quality of the lens they could produce or the price
out of the market possibilities, lets say, a perfect 16-35 zoom.

Regards

Felix
