Subject: [Leica] Equipment Request

OK, it sorta has to do with Leica (I own a Leicina 8SV)

Lately I've been even more retro than a Leica film shooter--I've been making
b/w movies with my standard 8mm rollfilm equipment. Yes, you get strange
looks when winding up your camera at some big event. Even better, imagine
the reaction when you say that yes, there IS film in the camera. I took it
to the Greenwich CT car show this past weekend, where I saw an M6, and M2,
and one fellow with a Retina IIIc.

Unfortunately, my poor Bolex 18-5 projector went hooves-up with a fried
motor; the local camera shop isn't exactly bursting with options.

Does anyone on the US side of the list have an 8mm (regular 8 or dual
super/standard 8) movie projector in decent working shape that they'd like
to sell? I assume that someone out there has one moldering in the hall
closet. If I'm going to buy one, I'd rather give my money to a LUGger.

Would love to see the footage I shot over Memorial Day.

Replies off list, please!

Best,

PS. Here's a peep into our silver halide still film future: to shoot with
my standard 8 camera, I have to order film from the mid-west. It's
available only in b/w, in one reversal emulsion. When I've exposed the
film, it's sent to the one lab (on the west coast) that will process and
slit 8mm film. That comes back via priority mail. A roll with processing
and shipping runs about $25, all told.
