One kinda dumb theory to me on the TV show was they were maybe introduced by the Romans-- circa 55 BC if I recall my English history correctly. But who knows? Perhaps you DO need one of those Ghillie suits drenched in fox urine to mask your scent. Ours, a 'large black cat possibly a panther', has been seen around one of the areas I walk in. If I should meet up with it I will empty my camera bag climb in a pull the zipper over my head. The explanation for the many big cat sightings is that a few years back the law was changed to prevent British eccentrics keeping them as pets. Rather than turn them over to a zoo or have them put down they took them out into the countryside and released them.
