Hi Adam,
what is demanding a complete reinstall? I changed all my computers to  
10.4 with a straightforward upgrade, everything went fine, though I  
do keep my system clean and tidy which is pretty easy to do with  
DiskWarrior and utilities like Onyx or Cocktail.
