Frank,

I suspect the donuts that Gandy advertises would work fine, but the price is
quite high. I make my own, which I have applied to my Leica IIIa, IIIf RD,
and a couple of Leitz aux. viewfinders. I use adhesive-backed black felt,
available at Wal-Mart, fabric stores, etc. I start by using a 1/4-inch hole
punch to provide an eyehole, then trim a boundary to fit the appropriate
application. For the 5cm Briteline finder, I used some small scissors to
cut a ring to fit the back rim. The fabric is cheap, so, if it takes a few
tries to get what you like, the waste is negligible.

I've still got the original scratches that inspired me to find a "fix", but
have not acquired any new scratches since I applied the felt.
