part of the setup (not pictured) is the off camera assistant or "kitten 
wrangler" whose job it is to constantly pick up  the kitten and turn him 
face-towards-camera, the kittens will play like this and have a swell time 
for about 12 minutes. after which they seem to get tired (yes, the kittens 
get tired) and they just sit still. every time the cat is facing you and the 
wrangler's hands are clear, you fire a shot. the wrangler will also use a 
piece of dangling string to keep the kitten's attention lensward.
