Did my laundry last night, the whites (with bleach) and lined up my socks
along my bed to match them up. A couple dozen and a half what would have
been pairs.
But not one sock matched another. It was a line of single socks. Not one
pair.
Such a thing would indicate a crisis point.
An epiphany. Which I checked and it's ok to have if your Jewish. Small "e".
Or at least a pause to reflect:
Maybe I'm on the wrong track here?
Time to check your horoscope. "Avoid power tools and heavy machinery
including your Maytag".
But then I noticed I had a fairly sizable bag of dirty whites hanging right
in my closet. So I ran those as week.
Sure enough I was able to work most of those in getting plenty of matches
now.
Only about a half dozen singles. Which I've undoubtedly cycling had for
years.
Now I have at least a dozen pairs of white socks to choose from.
Some from bags of six pairs for 12 bucks.
Some from REI which were 12 bucks for one pair and had wool mixed in them
with the Egyptian cotton with silk or something.
What can I say it's about high noon in Portland without a cloud in the sky
and my wall digital thermometer hooked to the outside says 67.3 degrees
although the sun would be on it. "Summer is over" says Carole King, "Time to
remember that time in September" says Jerry Orbach, but I'm going outside
with my 35 Summicron ASPH, black M6 with Rapidwinder II with two rolls of
Kodachrome. A roll of 64 and a single roll of 200 which cost me 25 bucks
from the walk in at the "pro" cameras store down the street. I sure hope I
can find someone to run these my darkroom is black and white and there are
spiders in there.
I'm going to send some slides in for the LHSA meeting in San Fran next
month. Not shot a chrome since the winter of 1889. So cold the fire froze.
I've got some Agfa 50 here too.
