Sonny raises a good point. For your an M rangefinder, infinity is a  
long way away. I like to use something at least 2 kilometers away.  
Test in the open air not through a glass window. The moon at night or  
far off clouds work well as a target. The light pole two blocks away  
is no where near far enough away.
