I remember buying the same album on vinyl and CD as Christmas gifts
and the CD was the same price or $1.00 more. The record store owner
joked that his profit margin on vinyl and Cd's was the same, But that
the Labels made at least twice as much or more on CD sales.

He also said that the CD price was based on the vinyl price not on
what it cost to make a CD.
