Having read the responses and suggestions, so  
far .................... I might only add that, to save everyone's  
face, you could just use a 21 or 24mm lens and take photos with your  
left hand, of the two of you enjoying the various moments of the  
celebration .............. with whoever you wished to join-in the  
photo. behind you both (daughter, son-in-law ............. Uncle Tom  
C. and all).

You might then even be encouraged to do it "properly".
