To me a true Digital M would use a 24x36mm sensor. I know that sounds  
impossible now, but I'm sure an innovation in ccd design could solve that  
problem. 
And it's probably coming down the pike.
Meanwhile a D70 and Oly 5050 fill the digital gap for me. There is no  film 
gap.
