You're right, Barney. Focus is not perfect indeed.

It was just all auto setting at 400ASA in JPEG.
I still have to discover all the described quirkinesses of the Sony
DSC-R1 by myself.

Sony? Did I say Sony? Those Japs with Zeiss glass?
Well yes, after comparing a lot of stuff and knowing my shooting
style I melted for its 10,2 MP sensor and 24-120 2.8/4.8 (35mm
equiv.) Zeiss lens.
I know it has a small and strange placed LCD, has a stiffer zoom ring
than my just sold Digilux 2, big RAWs, slow writing times and doesn't
perform as well from 1600 ASA on, but for that money, there is just
no (digital) equivalent.
Even if AF at macro setting focuses on the lips instead of the eyes
(I go manual 90% of the time).

Since I was granted a Canon budget by the boss of my very own
company, I treated myself to an 8 MP Ricoh GR-D with external VF and
wide(r) conversion lens to have a lill' something pocketable, too.
And I ofcourse needed an upgrade to CS2 since CS doesn't read the
camera's RAWs and a 500 Gb external HD for all the images I'm going
to shoot.

I guess the M4-2, tri-X and old style developers will be only for
those very special moments from now on...
Anybody I can please with a small Paterson?

;-)

Thanks everybody for looking,
Philippe
