Eric,
Depending on the quantity of gear, I might look at a Pelican case.  They are
waterproof and seal very well.  If you are only worried about one or two
months out of the year then a sealed case makes sense; lock your toys away
when it is dry and they will still be dry in 60 days.  Likewise, Tina's
solution of wiring a 25 watt bulb in closet that you can shut the door will
keep your gear in good shape.
