It's been years since I made the trip from Phoenix to San Francisco but  
Hwy 1 most be God's country. If you don't start at Santa Barbara and 
head north you'll miss a beautiful run. One thing I still remember is 
the worst case of Poison Ivy imaginable. I'm sure it has changed but in 
1970 you could walk to the edge of the cliffs and imagine what paradise 
could be.
