If your friend doesn't want to carry a laptop and download to that 
(he'd have the added advantage of having the laptop to work on and 
check e-mail maybe),  then I would recommend carrying an Epson P2000 
(40GB) or P4000 (80GB).  It downloads quickly, shows large previews, 
can show "slide" shows on its large screen, has a long-lasting 
battery (but I'd carry at least two if he won't have a place to 
recharge).  The other choice would be to carry something like an 
Apacer CD burner and burn CD's as he goes.  He could do that, though, 
with the laptop, so I'd still recommend either a laptop or an Epson 
digital album.
