[Leica] 6 Bit Coding on Lenses

It would also _necessitate_ post processing, and not everyone wants 
to do that. Some people would like to be able to set the shooting 
parameters, and have a file written to a card they can make a good 
print of, without going through a computer. In-camera processing and 
knowledge of the lens specifics can make the results better.

This isn't just for amateurs. If someone shoots 2000 shots under 
controlled conditions to wind up with 200 useable ones, with a 
variety of lenses he/she usually doesn't relish the idea of going 
into each one with Photoshop and tweaking them. Shooting high quality 
jpegs often makes more sense under those conditions.

I think Leica is indeed doing the customers a valuable service by 
providing this option.
