Slobo, Jim,  while I love the cotton swap part, could I suggest that  
contact cleaning fluid be used instead of alcohol?  I used alcohol  
for years and had years worth of problems with my R8 electrics.   
Switched to CRC CO Contact Cleaner and hey presto, the camera works  
like Solms intended.  The CO isn't for carbon monoxide.  :-)

Please, give it a try.
