Ric,

The bells had been ringing for centuries, over 400 years.

In 1942, on Palm Sunday, L?beck was bombed, even the old town, where
nothing of any military importance could be found. This church burned
and in the heat, the bells fell over 100 meters to their present
position.

They have remained there ever since.
